Lorry Mounted Crane – Training

Our Lorry Mounted Crane course (commonly known as a HI-AB) is designed to provide learners with the necessary information, knowledge & skills to safely operate a Lorry Mounted Crane whilst at work.

On completion of this course, the learners will be able to demonstrate the ability to:

  • Identify the operators’ responsibilities under current HSE legislation
  • Operate a Lorry Mounted Crane safely
  • Conduct apre-use safety check on a Lorry Mounted Crane
  • Understand the responsibilities of the Lorry Mounted Crane operator
  • Identify possible workplace hazards (e.g. Manhole covers, overhead electric cables etc.)

Who is it for / requirements?

This operator training course is designed for potential operator’s who haveno previous experience of operating industrial counterbalanced or reach lift trucks rider-operated. Theyshould be over the minimum school-leaving age (except in docks where they must be at least 18 years ofage), they should have a reasonable degree of physical fitness.

Assessment

This is a combined classroom and practical based course on the Basic Operation and Safe Use of the Lorry Loader Crane (Hi-Ab).

Additional Information

  • Maximum of 3 learners
  • Half day duration for experienced operators, 1 day for beginners
  • After successful completion candidates will be issued with an RTITB Lorry Mounted Crane pass Certificate  and an Operators Card which is registered  for 3 years.
  • Learners must bring with them their own Personal Protective Equipment. (i.e.  hard hat, high visibility jacket, gloves & safety boots)
