As a group, they tested and improved their skills on almost every single lesson of the RTITB forklift operator course from the basic introduction to the truck and its components, performing a pre-use inspection to the more difficult manoeuvres like the ‘figure-of-8’ or a very tightly constructed chicane (thanks, Mike!) to the stacking and de-stacking procedure at different heights– they really are now well-prepared to deliver those lessons to trainees.
Engaging and Balanced Course Delivery:
Instructor Mike’s teaching approach played a pivotal role in making the course engaging and effective. He skilfully blended theoretical knowledge with practical exercises, ensuring a dynamic and interactive learning environment. By carefully pacing the sessions and alternating between theory and practical activities, exhaustion was mitigated, and participants remained fully engaged throughout the course. In fact, all participants were eagerly moving between the training room and the warehouse area, building their theoretical knowledge, and then putting that into practice on the truck.
So from legal and regulatory frameworks to truck stability to queries on best practices of course delivery and every topic in between, students studied and mastered all topics in the classroom. And building on their existing experience as operators themselves they gained invaluable experience teaching practical lessons – all in a fun environment that left them smiling most of the time.
And Mike always had an anecdote from his vast experience as a trainer to make the lessons entertaining, memorable and therefore ultimately worthwhile.
Success in Final Examination:
As a testament to their dedication and newly acquired expertise, all participants successfully passed the final examination conducted by the RTITB examiner. The agonising wait for the results to be announced – it wasn’t that long in real terms, but left enough time for doubts to creep into some of the participants’ minds – only created a greater sense of achievement in all participants. And this shows in the photo that was taken just before they all left the training centre to celebrate at home!
